Zip Cabs vs Uber in Aberdeen – What’s the Difference?

Uber is operating in Aberdeen, providing another option for getting around the city.

Zip Cabs takes a different approach. We focus particularly on pre-booked journeys, airport transfers, rural destinations, group travel and long-distance fixed fares.

For short, spontaneous journeys around Aberdeen, app-based ride-hailing can be convenient. For an airport transfer or a longer journey into rural Scotland, many passengers prefer having the vehicle, collection time and price arranged before travelling.

Fixed Fares vs Dynamic Pricing

One of the key differences is how fares are calculated.

Zip Cabs offers fixed-price fares on many journeys. When you book a fixed fare, the price agreed is the price you pay.

Uber uses dynamic pricing, meaning fares can vary according to factors such as demand.

For longer journeys, knowing the total price before you travel makes it much easier to plan and budget — particularly for groups sharing the cost.

Aberdeen Airport Transfers

Zip Cabs provides pre-booked journeys to and from Aberdeen Airport, with your collection time and fare arranged in advance.

We provide:

Competitive fixed fares on many airport journeys
Pre-booked collections
Vehicles for 1–8 passengers
Space for substantial luggage
Long-distance onward transfers
A free Aberdeen Airport drop-off option, helping passengers avoid the terminal drop-off charge

If you’re flying into Aberdeen and travelling onwards to a rural hotel, castle or wedding venue, you can arrange the entire transfer before your flight.

Local Drivers Who Know the Area

Zip Cabs is built around local experience.

Our drivers know Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire and the surrounding areas, including many of the rural roads and destinations we serve regularly.

That local knowledge can be particularly valuable when travelling beyond Aberdeen City to rural hotels, castles, wedding venues and communities where journeys can involve considerably more than simply getting from one city street to another.

The Right Vehicle for Your Journey

One Uber or standard taxi isn’t always enough, particularly when several passengers are arriving at an airport with luggage.

Zip Cabs operates:

4-seater vehicles
6-seater vehicles
8-seater vehicles

We can accommodate 1–8 passengers, with options for families, wedding parties, golf groups and passengers travelling with multiple or large suitcases.

Tell us your passenger numbers and how much luggage you’re bringing and we’ll arrange the most appropriate vehicle.

Simple Payment Options

Zip Cabs accepts:
